From RUPD, SSI, and Rice Parking - Food Drive for Parking Fines Nov. 15 - 17

Do you have unpaid parking citations issued before November 1, 2022? Are you looking for an easy way to pay them off and help the Rice community simultaneously? The Rice Parking Office, the Office of Student Success Initiatives (SSI), and RUPD have partnered to make this happen.

November 15 through 17, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., SSI and RUPD invite you to pay off your unpaid Rice University parking fines with food and hygiene product donations instead of cash. All donations will go to The Pantry. The Pantry, housed in SSI – Student Center, operates on a good-faith basis and is an anonymous resource for all students, faculty, staff, and community members. The SSI’s goal is to ensure that The Pantry is accessible and is a space where individuals feel welcome. It provides access to non-perishable foods and hygiene products. The Pantry is similar to a neighborhood food market, except their food and products are free to their shoppers.

If you’re interested in participating, please bring in a minimum of five non-perishable food items or regular-size hygiene products to settle one current unpaid citation (up to $30). If you have more than one outstanding citation issued before November 1, 2022, you may donate more. Five products for $30, 10 for $60-$75, 20 for $150, and so on. Citations must have an issuance date before November 1, 2022. Donations will not be valid on citations already paid. Donations will be accepted even if you do not have citations.
