Inauguration is around the corner!

Good afternoon colleagues,

We made it through another week! I know how busy you all are as we prepare for the incredible celebrations on campus next week. This is a special time that so many of you have been planning and preparing for over the last year. I hope that all of us will join in the festivities that are planned for President DesRoches. Most importantly, please plan to join me on Thursday, October 20, for the luncheon on the Anderson Clarke lawn to celebrate the university staff members. The weather forecast looks wonderful, and the food will be terrific. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate together with our new president. Early this week, Susann Glenn shared a request seeking volunteers to help with the nightly drone shows. If you can lend a hand, please visit this link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c48aaab2da1f58-desroches to get more information about what’s needed. And, if you’re curious about the scheduled events, the link to the inauguration site is https://inauguration.rice.edu/.

I will be enjoying many of the inauguration events myself and am looking forward to meeting more of you in person. I have heard from many of you that you were not able to get into a Coffee and Conversation session. Soon I will send out more dates for sign-ups. These sessions have been enlightening. I look forward to connecting with you.

I would be remiss if I didn’t highlight a huge celebration – our Houston Astros! We’ve got two ALDS wins under our belt and hope to have one more on Saturday! Let’s go, Astros!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Kelly Fox, Vice President for Finance and Administration
