From Human Resources - Organizational Changes and Updates

Kelly Fox, Vice President of Finance and Administration, recently shared some exciting changes to the Finance and Administration team, including the expansion of Human Resources to include the Access, Equity, and Equal Opportunity Office. We welcome Richard Baker, Olivia Hernandez, and Carmen Irvin to the HR team with enthusiasm and excitement!

We know that our success is only possible when you are successful. Therefore, we want to provide you with information about how human resources (HR) will partner with you to achieve extraordinary results through service, operational distinction, a sense of pride and community, and, most importantly, accountability to one another. We also wanted to share with you some of the critical initiatives HR will be working on in the months to come and to reintroduce our HR team to you.

Important Initiatives:

  • The Benefits Team is working closely with the Benefits Committee to propose adding parental leave to our robust benefits programming.

  • This month, the Compensation team will launch a comprehensive staff compensation study to assess and implement any necessary changes to ensure that our job structure, pay ranges, and practices are competitive. The timeline for this initiative is still under development; more information will be shared as we progress in this project.

  • The HRBP model has been modified to include positions specifically focused on providing employee relations support to our supervisors and employees. A team of experts will work together as a robust resource for all staff when an employee relations need arises.

  • The Talent Development team is currently assessing the training and development needs of staff employees at all levels of the University. We will meet with stakeholders across the campus community to collect data supporting this effort. The goal is to implement a training program to support staff career pathways, frontline supervisors, and emerging leaders in our community.

  • AEEO will work with campus partners to support diversity programming and explore the opportunity to develop and support Employee Resources groups.

  • Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) will continue to collaborate with stakeholders as we improve the utilization of iO for Human Resources transactions and information.
