Understanding Rice’s New Budget Model & Fund Allocations

Rice University's Budget Transformation Initiative Logo

The Budget Transformation Initiative, a strategic collaboration between the Office of the Provost and the Division of Operations, Finance, and Support, is reshaping Rice’s financial allocation framework. This mission-driven project introduces a transparent and incentive-based budget model, aligning the university’s financial planning more closely with its strategic goals and ambitions.

Recently, the team launched a three-part video series detailing the initiative, Rice’s budget, and the flow of funds across the university.

Featured below, the second video dives deep into the mechanics of Rice’s budget, exploring revenue sources and the flow of funds across campus. Provost Amy Dittmar and EVPOFS Kelly Fox unpack key terms, review different budget model methodologies, and discuss how the new approach refines fund allocation at Rice.
