A New Look and Feel for iO

Oracle Redwood Experience

Over the past several months, the Payroll, Human Resources, and Procurement teams, together with campus design committees, have partnered with Oracle on a series of enhancements for iO—Rice’s enterprise management system. These updates are part of Oracle’s “Redwood Experience,” which brings a modern, intuitive interface designed to make everyday administrative tasks easier, faster, and more consistent. Additional improvements are scheduled for release this August.

What’s Coming to iO?

The Redwood Experience is Oracle’s improved interface for Human Capital Management (HCM) and Procurement Self-Service. These updates create a seamless experience for users across campus. Key improvements include:

  • Consistent Design Across Modules: Areas such as Learning, Journeys, Supplier Registration, and Total Compensation now feature a unified, visually streamlined layout.
  • Simplified Navigation: Redesigned menus and intuitive layouts allow users to complete tasks with fewer clicks and less confusion.
  • Smarter Search: Enhanced search functionality helps users find information more quickly and efficiently.

Many of these changes are already visible in modules like Career and Performance (Goal Center), Labor Distribution, and the Opportunity Marketplace. The August rollout will expand the Redwood design to additional HCM and Procurement areas, continuing the effort to improve user experience across the board.
