iO Evolution: User Experience, a project within the IT Excellence Portfolio, launched in the fall of 2022, focusing on meeting the community’s needs. To enhance the user experience, individuals from across campus lent their expertise and input as members of the design committees, functional committees, and steering committee. Recent feedback indicated that efforts to engage, enlighten, and empower the community in 2023 have improved the user experience, marking a significant step forward in the initiative’s progress.
ENGAGE: More than 25 design committees, comprised of 109 individuals from over 30 departments, worked together to create dashboards, improve expense report notifications, and update processes such as graduate student pay, supplier registration, and labor distribution.
EMPOWER: iO-focused learning opportunities reached over 500 community members across campus, including e-learning sessions, hands-on workshops, numerous one-on-one coaching sessions, and office hours hosted by Finance, IT, and HR. Notable offerings included Financial Management, Procure to Pay, HCM Initiators, and Basic iO Navigation.
ENLIGHTEN: 138 dashboard enhancements were created, improving the end user’s ability to search and sort data to meet their needs. Additionally, data entry was simplified for supplier registration, graduate student pay, and expense report notification, improving user satisfaction and reducing errors.
Demonstrating the power of community collaboration and IT’s commitment to improving the customer experience, iO Evolution recently launched a new webpage featuring links to user-requested resources, training, and information. Communications have been tailored to specific user groups, ensuring that relevant information is delivered directly to the intended audience.
Fueled by constituent feedback of an improved iO user experience, IT, HR, Finance, and members of the governance committees look forward to sharing additional enhancements with the campus community in the months ahead, including:
- Graduate Assignment Redesign
- Assessment of Oracle functionality to the university’s needs
- In-person training for the redesigned Finance dashboard
- Role-based training checklists for new employees
