40 Seats. No Cost. Real Project Skills: Project Management Fundamentals Course

By Michelle Thackray, Associate Vice President, Operational Excellence

Staff members inside of a classroom

You don’t need “project manager” in your title to manage projects. Most of us do it every day. This spring, 40 Rice staff members will get the tools to do it well, at no cost.

After several successful pilots, Operational Excellence is opening Project Management Fundamentals to all full-time staff. The nine-week, in-person course was built specifically for Rice by the Glasscock School of Continuing Education. You’ll learn alongside colleagues from across campus, tackle a real group project, and present your work to university leaders.

The course will teach you how to:

  • Scope and launch a project
  • Build a schedule that holds
  • Win stakeholder support
  • Manage resources
  • Track and report progress

The details: Two cohorts, 20 seats each. The course cost is covered for everyone who completes it. Manager approval is required.
