Dear colleagues,
Happy National Veterans Day! I am grateful for the Rice employees who have served with honor. Thank you for your service and commitment to our country and to your fellow Americans. I am deeply thankful to you all.
Since joining the Rice community, there are many events that I have enjoyed participating in. These last two weeks have marked me joining the Houston community in celebrating the Houston Astros! It was thrilling to watch the games and wonderful to be in a town with such excellence. Go Astros!
Closer to home, thank you, RUPD, Rice Parking, and the Student Success Initiatives (SSI) department are partnering together next Tuesday through Thursday to host a food drive for the SSI Pantry. The Pantry operates on a good-faith basis and is an anonymous resource for all students, faculty, staff, and community members to ensure that The Pantry is accessible and is a space where individuals feel welcome. It provides access to non-perishable foods and hygiene products. The Pantry is much like a neighborhood food market, except their food and products are free to their shoppers. The Food for Fines Drive will be held next Tuesday, November 15, through Thursday, November 17, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm each day. This is a great opportunity for anyone to pay off any unpaid Rice University parking fines and give back to the community!
There are a few spots left for the Listen and Lunch session scheduled for next Tuesday, November 15. If you’re interested in signing up, click on this link: https://events.rice.edu/#!view/event/event_id/325725.
Have a great weekend,
Kelly
